Measurement we will need

• A to B
• A to C
• B to D

1. Measure from point A to point B to desired length at the top of the stock
2. From point A (at the top of the stock), pull the measuring tape straight down to point C, stop before the stock starts to curve under
3. Measure from point B to point D in the same manner as step 2

Note: Make sure you do not move point A and point B when you proceed to steps 2 and 3.  If necessary use a piece of post-it paper or rubber band (or something similar that will not damage your stock) to mark your spot.
